How would you describe your personal style?
I'm pretty light-handed—I like a fresh, glowing face. I believe in just enhancing one's best features using as little makeup as possible. I want people to notice how pretty someone is—not how much makeup they're wearing. But I have to say, I love focusing on the eyes.
How do you stay on top of industry trends?
"I've always loved fashion, so I follow the shows every season and still love makeup browsing. I always keep my eye out for the new collections, new colors and new products."
What is it like working with Heidi?
Working with Heidi never really seems like work. She's one of the funniest people I work with. It doesn't matter how long the days are because she makes it a blast. I don't think in the five years that I have known her I've ever seen her having a bad day. She has such a positive energy, so I just love being around her. Not to mention she's so beautiful that she hardly needs any makeup, and that makes my job really easy.
Can you share your most memorable experience with Heidi?
Wow, honestly there are so many. Everything from shooting in their beautiful house in Mexico for InStyle, to going to Las Vegas for Germany’s Next Top Model, to getting her ready for various TV shows while we were both pregnant and comparing bellies each time we saw each other.
What is the single most important tip in applying makeup?
Moisturize your skin before doing anything and blend.
What is the greatest challenge in your line of work?
I have to say balancing work and family life. As much as I love traveling and going on press tours, it's always hard being away from my family and two little girls, ages four and one.
Who else’s work in your industry do you admire?
I always think of Coco Chanel as a great inspiration. She was really ahead of her time, fearless and innovative.
Describe an ideal client?
An ideal client is someone who trusts you—who lets you do whatever you want even if it's not how they usually wears their makeup, and trust that it suits them. But also someone who likes to have fun with it and likes looking different every time.
Are their any products that you couldn’t live without?
A Shu uemura Eyelash Curler, Chanel Eyebrow Pencil, Anastasia Clear Brow Gel, Cle de Peau Concealer.
What is your ultimate career dream?
To keep doing this for as long as possible. I feel very fortunate because I have great clients and get to travel the world. I would love to maybe one day be involved with a makeup line, and help create color palettes.
