Dress Up Your Desktop
While a lot of my typical workday is spent in front of a camera, I still spend a lot of time in my office and stare at the same items that most of you have on your desk: a pen holder, stapler, roll of tape, etc. Traditionally, these items have been designed with function in mind and have been lacking in the style department. However, with the realization people are spending so much time at their desks, designers have (finally!) started to create products that not only perform but also make your desktop look fabulous. These are some of my favorite products that offer both functionality and flair ... and, better yet, they all are $10 or less!
Colorful Rubber Band Ball - $5.00
This falls into the 'Why Didn't I Think of This?' category. It's so simple, yet so smart. It keeps your bands in one neatly organized sphere and adds some color to your desk.
Jonathan Adler File Folders - $10.00
Move over, manila! Home design darling Jonathan Adler has recently released a collection of whimsical wares for your office. These file folders have Adler's signature modern-retro twist and will brighten up the dullest of file cabinets.
Suzy Jack Demi Notebooks - $10
As anyone who knows me well can tell you, I am a fanatic of lists ... to-do lists, shopping lists, laundry list. Give me a notebook and I am a happy lady; give me one of these adorable notebooks and I am even happier. Best of all, they are tiny enough to throw in my handbag.
Red Swingline Stapler - $10.00
How could Swingline improve their classic and durable stapler? They made it red, that's how!
Fleur de Lis Letter Opener - $8.00
No more paper cuts! This handy letter opener makes opening a love letter or a credit card bill a more elegant task.
See Jane Work Basics Pencils - $7.00
Nothing like a freshly sharpened pencil to inspire an idea. Whether it is a sketch, crossword puzzle or to-do list, these colorful pencils are up to the challenge. Created by SeeJaneWork.com, which bills itself as the online destination for office style and organization ... I couldn't agree more.
Galison Pen Holders - $7.00
Keep your desktop clutter-free with these boldly hued pen cups. Better yet? You get two coordinating cups so you can keep your pens in one and pencils in the other.
Thomas Paul Mouse Pad - $9.00
These mouse pads are pretty and practical, as each is made of 50 sheets of paper. Jot down notes and reminders and then tear away.
Stainless Steel Sharpie - $5.00
I love a Sharpie marker. I use them for everything from labeling my children's toys and clothing to signing autographs. This stainless steel casing adds a sleek appearance to this classic.
Endangered Animal Erasers - $9.50
These fun oversize PVC-free erasers will bring out your desk's wild side. They're shaped as a polar bear, gorilla or rhinoceros -- all of which are, unfortunately, endangered species. Thankfully, a percentage of each sale will be used to help protect these animals through a donation to the Center for Biological Diversity.
