Ornament style dictates ornament-hanger type: some ornaments come with their own ribbons or cords. Dr. Christmas says that retro designs should hang from classic metal hooks, while designer glass and crystal pieces demand upscale hangers. For heavy and collectible pieces, two hooks are safer.
Make sure that crowns on collectibles or pricey ornaments are secure before hanging them. Loose crowns can be secured with a drop or two of glue. An alternative fix is demonstrated below (protect your hands by applying hand lotion before using a glue gun). Serious collectors may not want to do either, since altering the ornament will lessen its value.
