Vamp Lip

Makeup expert Linda Hay is showing Heidi how to create a dramatic, bold lip.

One of the mistakes many women make when doing a dramatic lip is that they start with the eyes, she says. Just for the sake of balance you should chose which aspect of the face you want to emphasize--choose one feature at a time that you want to highlight! Because Linda is emphasizing the lips, she's leaving the models eyes as bare and natural as possible to avoid looking overdone.

To begin the dramatic lip, Linda begins by lining the outside of the lips with a berry lip pencil, then filling the entire lip in with the pencil, which makes lipstick stay longer by giving the lipstick something to hold on to. Then, blend the lip liner into lips by using a cotton swab.

To get more control over the application, Linda recommends using a lip brush. Don't forget to line the corners of lips! If the look isn't perfect, that's ok-Linda uses concealer to clean up any messes around the lips after she's done applying the lip pencil.

If you have thinner lips, never fear--you can still try a dramatic lip! Just stick to a brighter color and avoid overdrawing your lips, she says. Go for something a little bit brighter than a dark berry lip if you're trying not to accentuate thin lips.

To finish the look, Linda curls the lashes, applies mascara and makes sure not to forget the brows-one of the most important parts of creating a bold and sexy look. Strong brows frame the face, giving definition and contour to the look.
