Eating On the Go
Taking a summer vacation before school and work is in full swing again? Don't let eating on the run ruin all the progress you've made! When I travel, I make sure to pack lots of healthy snacks with me so that I'm not tempted to eat poorly while on the go. So often we are tempted to reach for fast food, airline food -- whatever is quick and easy to not delay the trip. Also, when we travel we are sitting a lot and limiting our mobility. Steer clear of salty food or carbonated beverages to avoid bloat, but be sure to keep hydrated. Here are some snacks I eat when on the go:
Packed with protein, fiber, calcium, magnesium, potassium, vitamin E and other antioxidants, there is very little that this nut doesn't do. Throw them in a salad or eat them on their own.
When the doctor said, "An apple a day," he wasn't kidding. Apples are packed with great things for your body including phloridzin that can help increase bone density, and pectin that can lower cholesterol.
Kirschbars and DKW Thermo Bubbles
The bars are easy to travel with, come in three different flavors and are 100 percent natural. The bubbles add a bit of fun to eating on the go and help to boost your energy levels and metabolism while curbing your appetite.
If eating out at unfamiliar restaurants, keep it basic and simple by eating clean proteins like chicken or fish, greens, salads and grains -- and make sure to avoid potentially fatty and salty sauces and dressings.
