Michael Ostrow's Favorite Places to Shop
Here are the top spots you'll find me picking out gifts in--for myself and for others!
This spot is always classic store to pick up a sweater or a shirt. When I'm shopping for myself, I love the stuff Thom Browne designs for them--it's classic with a twist.
Hermes to me is what Tiffany's is to Holly Golightly "The quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there." It is magic.
Santa Maria Novella
This shop is an emporium of herbal cosmetics and soaps that are made following centuries-old recipes created by friars. If you ever have a chance, visit the Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella in Florence. The shop is like stepping back in time and the products make great gifts.
I love this art gallery in L.A. that specializes in European and American paintings and sculpture from the period 1890-1950, with emphasis on the School of Paris. I can always find something I love here.
Oliver Peoples Eyewear
I have been a very loyal wearer of their glasses since they opened in the late 1980s. Some of my styles are so old they are bringing them back and calling them vintage!
I admit it. I am an addict. Whatever I am collecting or looking for I can find it there. There's nothing better than sitting and watching an auction and winning. It's a thrill every time!
